More about this course:
Dementia Essentials is suitable for people working in aged care, health care and community services. It is delivered throughout Australia by Dementia Australia in an online virtual classroom and face to face environment. Eligible participants must be working with people living with dementia to attend.

Assessment
Assessment comprises of questions, portfolio tasks and is followed by a workplace assessment with supervisor observations. The workplace assessment provides evidence towards the participant demonstrating their learning in their practice, supporting 2 people living with dementia. Workplace observation sign off will be the responsibility of the participant’s supervisor.
You MUST be able to undertake a workplace assessment under supervision, interacting with people with dementia in order to complete the course. The completed competency can be credited towards further study in aged care.
Qualification / Accreditation
Dementia Essentials is a Vocational Education and Training (VET) level qualification. It refers to the unit of competency named CHCAGE005 Provide support to people living with dementia. While it is a stand alone course, Dementia Essentials sits within the broader training programs covered by Certificate III Individualised Support/Ageing and Certificate IV Aged Care.

Statement of Attainment will be issued by Dementia Australia VIC Inc. RTO CODE:2512. Please contact Dementia Australia with Certificate enquiries.
