Overview

This one-day workshop consists of two sessions, one presented by DTA and the other by Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC).

This one day workshop consists of two sessions. The morning session, presented by Dementia Training Australia (DTA), will address ways to use buildings and gardens more effectively to support people living with dementia, as well as strategies for achieving change.  The afternoon session, presented by Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC), will specifically look at the immediate changes that can be made to finishes and fixtures and the impact they can have on creating enabling environments.

You are invited to register for either the morning session (9.30am-12.30pm), the afternoon session (1.30pm-3.30pm) or for both.

Morning session: "Creating supportive environments"

Join our workshop as we address ways to more effectively use buildings and gardens to support people living with dementia, as well as strategies for achieving change and creating better environments.

Afternoon session: "Are your interiors dementia inclusive: Picking the right products"

Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC) will look at how finishes and fixtures (such as taps and flooring) can have a positive or negative impact on people living with dementia. Examples will illustrate successful and unsuccessful applications and guidance will be given on product selection and evaluation.

    • Importance of fixtures and finishes in creating enabling environments for people living with dementia
    • Understanding criteria for selecting fixtures and finishes
    • Evaluating products for use

The certificate attendance for the afternoon session will be issued by DSDC.
