DTA provides education, training and resources for the Australian Workforce. Improving the health and well-being of people living with dementia and the staff who support them.
The purpose and focus of the DTA Fellowship program is to build leadership capacity and translate knowledge into practice. The Fellowship is about training and mentoring one or a small number of identified staff to facilitate the translation of knowledge into practice in their workplace (within the Fellow’s scope of practice and sphere of influence.) The Fellowship Program consists of: • Fellow(s) undertake a knowledge translation project over the course of 9 – 12 months • 5-hour introductory workshop (either onsite or via virtual classroom), including: o Resources on knowledge translation, project management and evaluation o 1 hour training on knowledge translation, delivered by a KT expert • Mentoring from an implementation coach: Monthly 1-hour mentoring meetings via Zoom • Micro-training: 3 x 20-minute training sessions on knowledge translation (delivered during the mentoring meetings) • Written report by implementation coach
Build capacity within aged care organisations to facilitate knowledge transfer and practice improvement in the care of people living with dementia Facilitate practice change aimed at meeting the identified TTP training objectives Develop leadership skills of individual staff to lead a change process Create agreement and intentions around the need to change practice Promote adoption of knowledge into practice Identify strategies to support adherence of new knowledge in practice.

Understanding Responsive Behaviours

With a team approach learn how to identify, understand, and respond to behaviours communicated by people with dementia. Workshop participants will be challenged to consider responsive behaviours from the perspective of the person with dementia.
