DTA provides education, training and resources for the Australian Workforce. Improving the health and well-being of people living with dementia and the staff who support them.
Course includes 7 x 30 mins modules. These modules introduce students to a number of tools and frameworks that assist them in understanding what is happening for a person living with dementia who exhibits a responsive behaviour, assists them to develop effective strategies to assist them in their work practice, implement those strategies and evaluate them. It then helps them to apply the learnings through a number of behavioural case studies including aggression, wandering, anxiety, depression and verbally disruptive behaviour. The CAUSEd model will be presented as a strategy to understand some of the triggers of responsive behaviours. A brief overview of psychosocial and pharmacological interventions will be given. This session will explore: •The terminology of responsive behaviours •How people with dementia communicate their needs •The principles for understanding responsive behaviours •The use of the CAUSEd model to understand responsive behaviours and support the development of individualised intervention plans
