Leading the change in medication management
Kate Fulford and Andrew Stafford report on the findings from the first two years of the Dementia Training Australia Medication Management Consultancy
This is believed to be the first comprehensive guide of its kind and is designed to complement the Clinical Practice Guidelines And Principles Of Care For People With Dementia launched in Australia in March 2016 for health and aged care professionals.
The Consumer Companion Guide was developed by people living with dementia, carers, researchers and clinicians from the National Health and Medical Research Council’s (NHMRC) Cognitive Decline Partnership Centre.
The consumer guide is designed for members of the public and uses accessible language to provide practical guidance about important aspects of the clinical practice guidelines.
It sets out the level of care that people with dementia and their carers and families should expect, what to do if this level of care is not met, questions to ask health care professionals, accessing services, and advanced care planning.
Both guides are freely available at: sydney.edu.au
