About this Course

To complete this course, you must successfully complete each of the following 4 modules, in the order listed.

Module 2: Target responsive behaviours
Prerequisite: You must first complete module 1

Module 3: Developing a management plan
Prerequisite: You must first complete module 1 and 2

Module 4: Developing a withdrawal plan
Prerequisite: You must first complete module 1, 2 and 3

Learning Outcomes

By completing this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the role of benzodiazepines and other sedatives in supporting a person with dementia experiencing a responsive behaviour.
  2. Recognise the risks and common adverse effects that benzodiazepines and other sedatives carry when used in people with dementia.
  3. Identify target responsive behaviours.
  4. Develop an appropriate management plan.
  5. Develop an appropriate withdrawal plan.

Some modules may have prerequisites. If a module has a prerequisite you’ll need to complete that first to ensure you have the essential prior knowledge required. Modules with a prerequisite will be clearly marked.

A Certificate of completion is awarded on successful completion of a DTA course or module. You may use this certificate toward your Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Access your Certificates in your Dashboard.
