In this module we introduce the general design features for patient safety and wellbeing.

We consider the person’s interaction with their environment and whether there are features in the environment which can be modified to promote ability and way-finding, and reduce stress.

You will learn about the 10 principles of environmental design that apply to people living with dementia.


Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module you should be able to:

  • identify both psychosocial and physical factors in the environment that may impact on the person with dementia
  • apply 10 evidenced-based principles of environmental design to identify aspects of your ward which could be changed to improve the quality of care for people with dementia

Continuing Professional Development

A completion certificate for CPD credit is awarded upon successful completion of this module.

Learning with DTA

A Certificate of completion is awarded on successful completion of a DTA course or module. You may use this certificate toward your Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Access your Certificates in your Dashboard.
